The blog link posted above is a blog about the reading skills in the book The Hunger Games. The reading skills required me to talk about predictions I made, ask questions, make text to world connections, make text to self connections, and make text to text connections. The blog I made for reading skills has all of these requirements. The prediction I made was that I predicted that Katniss or Peeta would win the Hunger Games and my prediction was mostly correct because both of them won. The questions I asked  in the blog post were answered. Katniss and Peeta, as a team, and Cato were the last tributes to fight to the death. My other question that was answered was  "I wonder if Peeta and Katniss will actually watch out for each other?" This answer would be yes because Peeta was near death and Katniss saved his life by winning him medicine. Peeta was there for Katniss when Katniss got a cut on her head and Peeta helped heal the wound. In my reading skills blog post I also added connections to the story that were also required. The link posted above is a great explanation of the reading skills for the book The Hunger Games.

Goals I have for next trimester for reading is that I want to be able to read every night instead of reading about once a week. I can fix this by cutting out some tv time and reading instead. Another goal I have for next trimester for reading is to read more then one book a trimester. I can do this by sticking with my goal of reading every night. A goal I have for next trimester for writing is to improve my writing material. I can do this by practicing my writing often. Areas of improvement that I want to work towards next trimester for reading is to learn to read more challenging books. I could do this by picking a book I have never heard of before. Areas of improvement that I want to work towards next trimester for writing is I want to make the quality of my writing more unique by using better vocabulary. I can do this by teaching myself new vocabulary words.

Since rue died, Katniss is now on her own. While about less then half of the tributes are still alive an announcement is made. This announcement was that two tributes can win if they are from the same district. Katniss is determined to find Peeta and when she does he is camaflagued and covered in leaves by the river. Petta was stabbed in the leg by another tribute named Cato. It is now Katniss job to fix Peeta and get him walking again.

Characters- Katniss develops a lot as this story goes on. At the beginning of the book she is a strong protective girl. As the story goes on, these qualities strengthen. When rue passed away she became loving as she buried rue with flowers and sang her a song as she was dying. Katniss begins to interact with peeta finally when they announce that two tributes from the same district are allowed to both win. Katniss develops the theme of the story by being there for those who care about here and who she cares about.

The tributes in the hunger games are continuing to fight for their lives. Katniss has allied with a girl named rue. Rue is 12 year old scard girl. Katniss gets the idea to blow up all the other teamed up tributes food. As Katniss is working to blow up the food, rue will make three fires at three different spots to distract the other tributes. Katniss then successfully blows the food up but when she gets back rue is tied up in a net as a trap. Katniss gets rue loose but when she does a tribute flies an arrow right through rues stomach. Katniss shoots an arrow right back at the tribute that killed rue and the arrow kills him. Katniss is saddened by the tragic loss of rue.

Book recommendation- I recommend this book for people who love to read entertaining books. The Hunger Games is a very active book meaning a lot of action takes place like sword fights, arrow fights, and all kinds of fights. The Hunger Games is about 24 tributes fighting to their death. This book is by far one of the best books I have read. If you like active, crazy books this is the book for you!

In the Hunger Games right now, the story is focusing on Katniss. Katniss is hiding and staying as far away from everyone as she can. She hunts for food, she sleeps in trees, and she finds water at a lake in the arena. Katniss is determined to win the hunger games. She has not yet had to kill anyone, which she is thankful for. Katniss is now hiding in a tree because she heard some tributes that teamed up coming close. As the tributes walk past the tree kaniss is hiding in they dont notice her but, Katniss realizes something weird that angers her. She realizes that Peeta teamed up with the other tributes and is now going against Katniss. Katniss is now angered at Peeta.

In the hunger games right now all the tributes are fighting until the death. Katniss and Peeta have been separated. Most tributes are mostly seperate as well. Some tributes have already been killed and there are about more then have of the tributes left to fight. Hopefully Katniss or Peeta win!

Reading skills- The hunger games has just begun and Peeta and Katniss and all the other tributes are fighting for their life. I predict that either Katniss or Peeta will come out winning the hunger games. I predict this for two reasons. One because they are the main characters in the story and two because they are both determined. They are determined to live. I wonder who will be the last two tributes fighting to the death? I wonder if Peeta and Katniss will actually watch out for each other? A text to self connection I have made to this story is that I promise to be there for others like people are there for me, just like Katniss and Peeta. A text to world connection made is that tributes are fighing to the death kind of like war. A text to text connection is when Rue died and Katniss covered Rue in pretty flowers like in the story Marley and Me when Marly dies and the family buries him nicely.

The Hunger Games has just begun and all the tributes are getting ready to fight. As soon as the one minute countdown ends, some of the tributes rush to the middle of the circle, where all the tributes were standing, to gather items like food and weapons. The other tributes run as far away from everyone as possible. Katniss and Peeta get seperated and now the story is focusing on Katniss. Katniss runs for hours until she knows for sure that she is far from the other tributes. Now it is Katniss' job to stay alive. She has to hunt for her food, find a water source, and keep herself as far away as possible from the other tributes.

So far, the theme of The Hunger Games is to be there for others. Katniss and Peeta are there for each other even up until the Hunger Games start. The Hunger Games have just begun and they are already telling each other to be careful. Before the Hungers Games started they told each other they wouldnt be the first to kill each other. So therefore, the theme of this story is to always be there for others.

Katniss and Peeta just got done with their interviews. They both did great! Katniss got the audience and sponsers to love her. During Peetas interview, he announced that he was in love with Katniss. Peeta claims he only announced this because he wanted to make the Hunger Games more interesting but what I think is that he really does love Katniss. Katniss got very angry at Peeta for saying that he loves her because she knows she doesnt love him back and she doesnt want to hurt his feelings. Now the Hunger Games is about to begin and the tributes are getting ready to fight. The Hunger Games will begin early tomorrow morning.

The character I choose to explain characterization with is Katniss Everdeen. Katniss is a very nice and kind girl that loves her family. She would do anything for her family for example when Primrose, her little sister, was chosen to fight in the Hunger Games Katniss volunteered so that Prim wouldn't have to fight. Katniss is also very loving to her family. She brings them food, water, and everything else they need to stay alive in their district. Katniss is a very great person.

The Hunger Games is so far a great book! As of right now, the 24 tributes are getting ready to go on a talk show. They are all going to talk about themselves, the games, and their lifestyles back home. Katniss and Peeta are working with some people to get ready for the interview. They are being trained to bring out their true selves and the truth about themselves. They are also going to work on their posture and the best ways to connect with the audience. Katniss is very nervous for the interview. Peeta is getting very excited and he cant wait for the interveiw. Hopefully the interveiws go well!

The conflict in the book The Hunger Games is that 24 tributes, 12 girls 12 boys, are fighting to the death. The goal is to win the hunger games by killing the other tributes and the last one alive is the winner of the hunger games. Most of the tributes are not as well trained as some of the other tributes so this could get interesting. Right now, Katniss is hoping to win the hunger games. She feels trained and ready but also very nervous. She just can't wait for it all to be over and hopefully become the winner.

I am now on chapter 8 of The Hunger Games. This book just keeps getting better and better. As of right now, Katniss and Peeta are getting used to having all the great food and enjoying, what they think, their last couple of days of being alive. They are eating lots of food and enjoying having a nice, comfy bed to sleep in. Katniss and Peeta are also getting ready to meet and train with the other 22 people that will also being fighting against each other during the hunger games. All 24 tributes will train together and work hard to win the hunger games.

Right now I am reading The Hunger Games. This book is really great! What has happened so far is that Katniss Everdeen was picked at the reaping to go to the hunger games, along with Peeta Mellark.  Right now Katniss and Peeta are getting all cleaned and ready for the hunger games that will be happening very soon. They are training and working hard so that they are ready to fight during the hunger games. I can't wait to see what happens next.

The book I will be reading is called The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I decided to read this book because i heard from many people that it was a great book. I am about two chapters into the book. What has happened during the first two chapters is that the reaping is about to begin. The reaping is when one boy and one girl, from district 12, are picked to fight against 11 other girls and 11 other guys from the ages 12-18 to the death. This  book so far is great! I predict that the character telling the story, Katniss Everdeen, will be picked for the reaping. What I don't understand is why someone would create The Hunger Games. Why would someone want to watch 24 kids fight to the death? The setting of this book is in the future so hopefully this will never happen. I personally don't have any connections with this book so far but maybe later in the book I might find some type of connection.
